Our Bands
LHHS Marching Band
The LHHS Marching Band is a large component of the fall curriculum of the program. The marching band is made up of all 9-12 grade brass, woodwinds, percussion, and colorguard. Fall marching band fufills physical education credit.
The marching band performs at 2-3 marching contests per year, the UIL Region Marching Contest, LHHS Football games, as well as various school functions and pep rallies. The calendar and schedule for the fall semester rehearsals, performances, and contests is typically released at the end of the prior year.

LHHS Wind Ensemble
After marching season in the fall, all parts of the LHHS Band changes its focus to smaller ensembles and groups. The LHHS Wind Ensemble is the most advanced musical group of the Lake Highlands Band. It is considered the "Varsity" group of the musical ensembles of the band. The Wind Ensemble is made up of 9-12 grade brass, woodwinds, and percussion and membership is based on audition.
All members in Wind Ensemble participate in the TMEA All-Region preparation and audition, the RISD Chamber Music Festival, and the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation. Additionally, Wind Ensemble members are expected to be enrolled in private lessons throughout the school year. Throughout UIL preparation, all sections of the Wind Ensemble have a once-a-week sectional that is based on the availability of the members of the section.
The Wind Ensemble performs at numerous events per year. The calendar and schedule for the spring semester rehearsals, performances, and contests is typically released near the end of the fall semester.

LHHS Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band is made up of 9-12 grade brass, woodwinds, and percussion and membership is based on audition.

LHHS Jazz Band
The LHHS Jazz Band is an elective component of the LHHS Band. The jazz band is made up of interested 9-12 grade brass, woodwinds and percussion. Membership is based on audition.
The Jazz Band performs at a number of events per year. The calendar and schedule for the fall and spring is typically released at the beginning of each semester.
